More and more young people are attached to their phones and posting every aspect of their lives online. But some aren’t always aware of the potential risks and dangers involved. Students at East Hill Elementary School in Montreal’s Rivière-des-Prairies are learning about online safety, and being warned about screen time addiction.
After having caught wind of the considerable growth that East Hill had made in year one of its ‘three-year STEAM revamp’ initiative, other schools within our network had indicated an interest in also joining the movement. Owing to this interest, late last year, administration at both Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Honoré Mercier approached their respective staff and governing boards, seeking, and eventually procuring, approval in becoming the second and third schools to undergo the same initiative.
Big things are happening within STEAM (Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Education at East Hill Elementary School! Having successfully completed the first of a three year pilot project, East Hill has formally adopted the STEAM pedagogical approach. This method favours a collaborative, interdisciplinary, hands-on, process driven, and problem solving oriented approach.
