Miriam Foundation

The Miriam Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the funding, enhancing, and supporting of innovative clinical, residential, educational, and leisure intervention programs aimed to improve the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities (ID), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and/or neurodevelopmental disorders (ND). The Miriam Foundation believes that every person deserves to live in a nurturing environment in order to realize their unique social potential as happy, contributing members of society.

Under the Foundation umbrella are the following programs and services:

Miriam Intervention offers a range of early interventions services based on best practices, support services and leisure programs for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disabilities to the greater Montreal community.

Our early intervention programs are based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and two curricula are employed, Verbal Behavior (VB) and Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). All these services are private not-for profit and partially paid for by the families of the clients and the balance is subsidized by the Miriam Foundation.

MateriaTech is a bilingual educational resource bank with over 6,000 items. Organizations, professionals and families have access to this resource that reduce the burden of both financial and human resources that can be spent on the purchase and creation of these materials.

Adult leisure activities are offered on evenings and weekends for adults with ND. Leisure groups provide the opportunity to socialize in a peer group, develop friendships, practice appropriate social behaviors in the community, learn new skills and, above all else, have fun!

Miriam Innovation is a bilingual training and resource centre that develops training programs, conferences, workshops and resources on autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental disabilities for professionals, paraprofessionals and parents.

Miriam Residential (through Miriam Foundation) owns and maintains seventeen (17) community homes for adult residents living with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Managed and operated by Miriam Home & Services, these community-based homes are adapted to meet the individual needs of the residents, who are all clients of Miriam Home & Services.
